Sketch Squad Weekly update: final deadline week

Well Hello again once more to our blog post from the sketch squad. Man with everything that has been going on these last few weeks (I have been experiencing this immense sudden panic first hand almost everyday since then and trust me it is rough) I am here to give a little update on what has been happening with our team since the last update post. Let me get a little rundown of where we currently are at this point in time.

The Project

From the last update we established that we had uploaded the work in progress version of our finalised project which just consisted of the Narrated version of our comic and the pages of the full comic. Now just a few days ago we had a discussion over our group chat about the final upload and making sure about everything that we need to have in the folder is all there and fully uploaded and that has been uploaded on Wednesday Night, even if it is just slightly late I'm sure it will be all A-Ok.

Presentations

Now for what is one of the two final parts of this module that we faced is now focused upon the presentation. Now the presentation from each group was supposed to be this week but due to the words of the government and for the health and safety of everyone, we were put into a two week lockdown that was supposed to lift tonight but it was just earlier this week that it has now been extended to the end of easter break on the 19th of April. Now in response to this we were given a new version where instead of it being a collective of all of the work together it actually be an individual presentation on each of our roles and what we had contributed to the whole module since the beginning of the group and how our work had turned out in the end. Luckily I know all the stuff that I had contributed to this group project and the role of Team Leader for it it should all come together nicely and hopefully get in done in time when I get the time to do so (you know with everything going on, there is a lot I have to get through, mainly keeping on top of other modules as well as my job in work of course) but you know it will all work out.

The Project Book

the last bit of the project of course is of course the Project Book. Now Luckily we planned ahead and had it all done up and made up before this whole panic began, so the likes of the project booklet has been all made for an online soft copy. As for the Physical Hard copy, I believe that Adam had been in contact with the printing place and I believe got the book printed out as well as the poster (one for each of the members and for those who were involved with the filming of the voices of the film as well because we may as well give them a contribution to this project for help) so we have that in case we need to hand in a hard copy if we come back into the college after all of this lockdown but only time will tell.

Overall I believe that we have everything under control and ready to call this module complete as we have worked hard throughout these last few months and up over the last few weeks up to the deadline and I am very proud of all the hard work that this team has done through the course of all the hard times, the stress and many other things (there is a lot that I am not going to discuss otherwise this blog is going to go on for about a chapters worth of pages) we have collectively come together to make something special.

Sketch Squad Weekly Update: Deadline week

Sketch Squad Weekly Update: Deadline week

Well, hello again to everyone in the Sketch squad group as well as everyone who is reading these blogs. Well after a whole semester and 6 weeks, it has reached the week of the deadline to the project. According to the calendar the due date for the work in progress of the final project hand-up with anything else being handed up the night before the presentation itself in two weeks time. So let me give a little rundown on the progress of where my group is currently at this week

COMIC:

So Let me start with what we originally started off our project with which was our graphic novel. As of now we have it all laid out, the story has been written, the pages have been illustrated and coloured and we have a rough print of it sorted out. In terms of a more together physical copy we are near the completion of that now we just have to receive one more reply back from the printers about that but other then that we have it all completed.

Website:

Now as I mentioned before in a previous blog that Adam and Nathan E have been working along on making a website about our project and the group and from what I have gathered is that we have it all near completion. I spoke with one of them just recently and he confirmed to me is that their is only one part of the site just left to code and it should be good to go.

Video:

Lastly in terms of the project workload, we decided to add a prologue video to our project that will also be an illustrated and narrated reading of our comic, done panel by panel, page by page to better emphasise what story we are trying to tell. The prologue video was filmed by myself and Dillon and the entire video was edited and worked on by yours truly which took I'd say about two to three hours to sync up the voices with the video and to make sure that it doesn't sound off and also to make sure that each panel has enough time to be shown so that they can take in all the hard-work that we put into this project and that Four and a half minute video can be seen here on Vimeo.

Group Morale:

Just before I head off I want to discuss just how the group has been in this last week. as we have been on a planned out schedule over the last few weeks,  I believe that from this week that we have been on top of things and that everything is all good and calm. We seem to b all good in relation to Group project but I think it's more of the whole other modules that have people in a headlock more then everything. As for me well I haven't had a break from just college work, college, all of these countless assignments and balancing a retail job that changes my schedule every week and have me in on all different days, it would be nice to actually have a day to myself for once because my energy is completely drained right now and everything being added on again is not helping my mental state (when it was already in a rough patch for the last while and still is) but I somehow manage.

in the end I believe that we have everything all together and I feel by the end of I'd say Wednesday that we should have everything together and uploaded for the final upload. We already have the work in progress uploaded and we shall get started on the powerpoint in no time and maybe the booklet at the same time but only time will tell on that part.

Updated Gantt Chart

In one of my last blog posts, I created a Gantt chart. This was created to show us what work we had to do and the deadlines. However the Gantt chart wasn't sufficeint nor as detailed as it could be, so after some constructive criticism and some conferring with my team.

This is the revised Gantt chart, it has some of the pevious charts sections such as the main deliverables like the comic (digital and physical), the videos and the website. But now I've also added in Tasks that are needed to be done for these deliverables and who needs to do them.

  • For the digital comic and the tasks associated to it the colour is red. The people who are doing the tasks are Sam and Nathan Harte.

  • For the website and its associated Tasks, the colour is orange and the people working on it are Adam and Nathan Ellis.

  • For the videos we need to create and it's associated tasks, the colour is Blue and the people working on it are Dillon and Sam.

Hopefully this improved Gantt chart will help us out, show what all needs to be done, by who and when. But thats doesn't mean it's not going to need future improvements.
